Assassination Classroom is a truly bizarre series. It starts off with an alien creature (that will come to be dubbed Koro-Sensei). This yellow-ish tentacled creature destroys a good chunk of the moon, and promises to do the same to the planet Earth within the next year. A typical villain would probably leave the premises, and come back to enact its plan. Not Koro-Sensei. This villain decides to become a teacher of misfit school kids, the Sweathogs of their school, and in turn it is up to these screw-up's to end the life of Koro-Sensei, before it can destroy the Earth.  The only problem is that both the students and their dangerous teacher begin to see each other as people, and develop caring that goes both ways.

The show starts out with quite a bit of set-up before getting to the main drive of the show. If the whole thing had been about a group of kids trying to assassinate their teacher, it would have been entertaining, but also monotonous. As both series play out, the lives of the students and Koro-Sensei begin to develop.  They begin to develop connections, and challenge each other. Korosensei begins to try and push them in ways to complete a successful assassination such as coming in first between classes, and getting to shoot off his tentacles. By the end of the show's second season there is a fully established emotional connection between the characters. However, the show never truly stops being weird and fun while establishing these relationships.

Assassination Classroom is presented with a 1:78:1 1080p AVC encoded transfer preserving the OAR of the show. Colors and detail are excellent here, there is some minor banding issues, that are noticeable but rarely detract from the quality. Audio is handled by  2 tracks a True HD 5.1 in English, and a True HD 2.0 in Japanese. Both tracks sound quire solid without issue, and convey the audio for the show in a clear and concise manner.  Extras include commentaries by the English cast on select episodes some minor featurettes, previews, trailers, and more.
