I will admit I hadn't seen the first series of Hozuki's Coolheadness when Sentai Filmworks Complete Collection appeared on my doorstep. The Blu-ray release marketed as a Complete S2 contains 26 episodes of the series, which makes me wonder if this is more of a Season 2/3 split set then an S2 which is marketed as only having 13 episodes, but I digress.

The series takes place primarily in Japanese Hell (each Earthly nation gets their own Hell, which made me wonder if this was by land mass, or literal boundaries, again I digress).  Hell is overseen not by Satan, but King Enma, who judges the damned. At his side is his faithful servant Hozuki.  Hozuki cleans up Enma's messes, and also does tasks all around the circles of Hell.

There is not much a story to Hozuki's Coolheadness, but that's alright. This pack of 26 episodes offers some interesting misadventures for Hozuki, and enables this to be an episodic hell-based comedic anime that is quite effective. The show is at times laugh at loud funny, even with the language barrier.. The animation for the series is definitely above the average, and does a solid job depecting Hozuki and the Hell he dwells in.

Sentai Filmworks presents Hozuki's Coolheadness in a quite solid 1:78:1 1080p AVC encoded transfer preserving the OAR of the series. Colors pop, detail is excellent, and no issues were really detected. Audio is handled by a DTS-HD MA 2.0 track in English.  Everything sounds quite solid here without issue. The only extras are a clean opening and closing. Hozuki's Coolheadness is a really fun and funny anime series, and comes RECOMMENDED on this Blu-ray from Sentai Filmworks.
