The Series (4/5)

    My Girlfriend is a Shobitch is a sexually comedic anime series.  It follows a character Haruka who as the series begins asks out his longtime crush Akiho. It turns out that Akiho has never been in a relationship, but is quite knowledgable about sex, and sexuality and vows to make all of Haruka's sexual dreams a reality.   Of course, Haruka wanted a simple relationship, and Akiho goes deep (no pun intended) in her studies of sexuality which far exceed Haruka's expectations.

    I hadn't heard of My Girlfriend is a Shobitch before it arrived in my mailbox. However, the series quickly grew in esteem as I watched each episode unfold. I'm not too into dirty jokes, but this series won me over in spite of that. The series never takes itself all too seriously, but sets up increasingly bizarre and funny gags throughout.  The characters are reasonably well-written making them relatable to a point. The animation as a whole is bright, and in line with the tone of the show. It is also well-detailed to the point that multiple viewings are encouraged. The first 10 episodes are great, I knocked off one point, because the OVA's are tonally in contrast to the series, but it's good to have them there for completeness sake.

Audio/Video (5/5)

    Sentai presents the series in a very nice, detailed, and colorful 1:78:1 1080p transfer that brings the look and style of the film to solid HD life.

    Audio is DTS-HD MA 2.0 tracks in Japanese and English. I usually stick with Japanese tracks, but due to the verbally comedic nature of some of the show's gags I went with the English dub which was effective. The Japanese track is also solid, and both are quite clean and audible.

    This set includes the standard clean opening and closing. Promos, previews, and dirty joke commentary tracks.

Overall

    My Girlfriend is a Shobitch is a quite entertaing sexually comedic anime series with great animation. The Blu-ray looks and sounds great and comes with some decent exras. RECOMMENDED.
