vsPledgeNight

When I put Pledge Night into my player last night, I didn't know too much about it.  It looked like a late entry slasher film, and that was enough to get me to watch it..   The film oddly surprised me, because while Pledge Night is far from original it's over the top, and ridiculous amounts of fun.

The film opens with pledge night at a fraternity. A young man named Sid, played by Anthrax' Joey Belladonna is killed in a fraternity prank gone wrong (damn kids leaving acid in the bathtub again). Years later Sid (no longer played by Joey Belladonna) returns to the frat to get revenge on the current occupants.

The film has a solid amount of splatter present, it's not entirely well executed, but it still falls solidly into that late 80's latex splatter style that I can't help but love. The performances are all over the place, but it works for what we have here.

Vinegar Syndrome present Pledge Night in a 1:85:1 1080p AVC encoded transfer preserving the OAR. Everything here looks quite solid without obvious issues.  Audio is handled by a DTS-HD MA mono track in English which sounds solid. Extras include cast and crew interviews which cover a lot of bases, a locations featurette, and trailer. Pledge Night is far from an original horror experience, but it is a fun one. The Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome is loaded with extras, and comes highly recommended.
