Hiro Hiyorimi is a young man who one day while wondering around the city, saves a young woman from falling steel beams. In the process he is killed, but fortunately for him, she is a Princess who comes from a family with powers of resurrection.  Hiro is given the flame of life, which makes him Hime's servant for all eternity. The flame is not permanent and most be given to Hiro every few days or he dies.  After this Hime, Hiro, and various others begin to fight against supernatural monsters like zombies, mummies, werewolves, etc.  Also, Hime is fighting for her place on the throne of her Father the king of monsters against a group of siblings (though we only see a handful of them).

Princess Resurrection is one of those anime series that doesn't really have a central plot carrying through it. Rather, it has a premise and executes that over a series of episodes. In each episode Hime, Hiro, and co. fight against random supernatural monsters, and the occasional sibling. This does begin to drag after a while, but I like monsters, I like action, watching it in small chunks, the series does retain a fun quality. The art style is quite solid, with distinct and interesting characters and locations. Also, the score definitely fits the overall tone of the series.

Sentai FilmWorks presents Princess Resurrection in a solid  480p standard definition wide screen transfer. All 26 episodes are on one disc, but I didn't note a lot of issue with compression, colors are solid, detail is fine. The transfer won't blow minds, but it gets the visuals across in a solid manner.  The audio tracks are HD with a DTS-HD MA 2.0 in English, and the same in Japanese. Everything sounds quite solid here without any noticeable issues.  Extras include a clean opening and closing.   Princess Resurrection is a solid series mixing monsters with action in an interesting way. The Blu-ray is SD, but the transfer is solid. RECOMMENDED.
