I've said it before, but Herschell Gordon Lewis is a favorite filmmaker of mine, and an inspiration to horror filmmakers for the last 50 years. Lewis started his career with nudie cuties, and then moved into making the very first splatter films like Blood Feast and Color Me Blood Red.   While Lewis' name was made by gore films he would branch out into other genres throughout the 60's and 70's.  One of those genres would be that of the biker film popularized by films like Easy Rider, and in turn Roger Corman films like the Wild Angels and the Naked Angels.

She Devils on Wheels is Lewis' attempt at a biker film, taking in elements of Corman's biker films, and Russ Meyer's films like Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill! and MotoPsycho.   The story here is pretty simple. Karen is a supposed innocent young woman, who moonlights away from home and family as a member of the all-female biker gang "The Maneaters". This gang is run by Queen, and the film follows them and their antics from motorcycle races to murder.

The film runs about 82 minutes, and really just follows the gang, and their attempts to take over their Florida town, and just get away with their antics freely. There are also subplots about initiations into the gang, and of a friend trying to get Karen out. The direction is in Lewis' solid, but workmanlike style. There is ample amounts of gore sure to please fans of the director's early 60's work.

Arrow Video has done a wonderful job with the H.G. Lewis library, and especially She Devils on Wheels which offers more clarity, and a more consistent image than many of the films release thus far. Colors are nice, detail is fine, and I could find only some minor instances of damage throughout.  Audio is presented with an LPCM Mono track in English, and sounds mostly solid, though I did detect some hissing throughout.  Extras include a 2nd feature Just for the Hell of It, A commentary by Lewis  for She Devils on Wheels, introductions for both films, and other featurettes and trailers.  She Devils on Wheels is a 60's biker/splatter classic, that is amazingly entertaining, and fits well with the rest of Lewis' oeuvre. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
