The Series (4/5)

OK, so this is a weird one. I've reviewed stuff based on video games, but "model kits", that has never happened. Now, I can add that to the list of shows and movies I've reviewed. I thought when I did my preliminary research this would be a cheap cash-in on a product, but as the Lego Movie taught me, some of these can be decent once in a while, and I had fun with Frame Arms Girls.

Frame Arms Girls is a show about a young woman AO, who receives a titular Frame Arms Girl from her Father in the mail. What is a Frame Arms Girl, you ask? A battle model that is basically a real life machine girl, whom a person has to train to both, fight, and also about human emotions. The one she receives is named Gourai, and they quickly becomes friends. She soon after receives two more, and begins to train them as well. The show is quite simple being a mix of battle/trainer anime, with slice of life, and shows the Frame Arms Girls learning about life from AO, going to her school and through her daily rituals. It's nothing original, but it's fun.

The animation is quite solid for the most part. The mix of an animated reality, with the more sci-fi reality of the Frame Arms Girls was a fun contrast. The CG wasn't always great either, but for the most part I was never taken out of the show.

Audio/Video (3.5/5)(

Frame Arms Girls is presented in a solid 1:78:1 1080p AVC encoded transfer. Colors are solid, detail is fine, some of the CG is weird, but that isn't the transfer it's the inherent look of the animation. Audio is presented by a DTS-HD MA 2.0 track in English with no apparent issues.

Extras (1/5)

    Clean opening and closing, trailers.

Overall

Frame Arms Girls is a fun slice of life, battle anime hybrid. It's breezy, and not to much to consider after the episode is over. It all looks quite decent, but lacks extras. RECOMMENDED.
