Plot: Upon returning from a pilgrimage across Japan, the warrior Toramaru arrives with tales of seven epic battles against Japan’s most legendary fighters. As Toramaru’s philosophy dictates that he ’know the enemy by eating his food, ’ each masterfully-choreographed fight is preceded by a helping of his prey’s favorite dish. Designated successor to Master Gensai and leading proponent of the all-round martial-arts discipline, The Cosmic Way, Toramaru tells the tales of The Seven Deadly Battles as Master Gensai eagerly listens to the lavish and violent details of Toramaru’s adventures.

If your into action films and comedy films this mixes both of those genres together. You have a funny over-the-top wildly interesting and massive martial arts, ass kicking action extravaganza.

So there is something that bugs me about martial arts films in this day and age. They’re too glamorous, too fancy with their massive sets and tons of wires. There are all these stylized movements, choreographed to the point that it looks like dancing. Well look no further than Bushido Man. This is a simple, brilliant, down to Earth independent martial arts film.

This is a film clearly about the fighting. All the fighting is directed wonderfully and acted on screen to in a fantastic manner. This is something that stands out because it's different. It goes back to the glory days of martial arts cinema.

Director Takanori Tsujimoto, brings an energetic, fighting, comical and all-around interesting believable martial arts film. It's fast paced. It's 88 minutes of pure fun and action.

I feel this was made for the die-hard lover's of truly over the top and memorable martial arts sequences. This was made for martial arts fans and for fans that love action.

This has no radiant grand scale or artistically woven, or magic inducing sets of grand high scales. This is the meat and bones,  blood and sweat of independent film-making. Fighting, comedy, and more fighting pure and simple.

This is being released on the Shout! Factory. A perfect blu-ray to bring home all of a fun, wild, action-packed, no holds bar, manly man film of kick butt mayhem.

There is a wonderful and respectful homage to the legend of Bruce Lee before the Nunchaku fight. He pulls out yellow shoes with black strap, yellow Nunchuks and has yellow sleeves representing the master Bruce Lee's famous yellow ass kicking jump suit. Just a priceless moment for Bruce Lee and martial arts fans.

My favorite fight of all is the battle on the beach with the Yakuza, Eiji Mimoto. Nice knife fight and a fist and strength action rumble. There is a great message behind it too, adding a little drama in the mix.

All the actors in this film have over 240 movies combined between them, in experience throughout the years. Some more veterans then others. All of them showcase wonderfully acted performances and an action packed good time. A little warning don't push stop when the credits roll, wait a minute because the film is not over.

Bushido Man stars the truly brilliant Mitsuki Koga. I will always remember watching him in 2003's Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S.. He is truly a talented actor and one that shines in this part as your main lead. He is gifted in the art of acting and in the art of holding the movie and making the viewer want more.

It played at the Fantasia International Film Festival in 2013 and received awesome reviews. This has a huge cult following overseas manly in Japan and also in Germany and I feel that it soon will sweep the glory of the old U.S. of A. Thanks to the one and only Shout! Factory for supplying this creative and very interesting and unique martial arts films to America. Shout! Factory brought out a wonderful independent martial arts film that should be seen for true lovers of martial arts films and for lovers of action films.

This is a comic book come to life.

Making Bushido Man: From the Fantasia Film Festival.

It was great seeing the players outside the movie in everyday life and talking about the movie. Sadly I wanted more because this has such a fan base that it would have been great to see some extras. With that said it's still a priceless independent martial arts film to own on this amazing Blu-ray.

Overall:

A truly eye opening, ass kicking good time. Fights, fights, fights and food. A truly fun wild action flick with the love of food woven around the violence and art of fighting.

To know the one you fight, you must know the food one eats.

This film is a unique and fresh concept. The film is very original, mixing the fun likes comic book comedy with old school martial arts. Simple put, this leaves you with a true original, fun, butt kicking good time.
