The Film (2.5/5)

While out enjoying the wild nightlife, Annie and Nadine (Francoise Blanchard and Nadine Pascal) find themselves drugged and sold off to a human trafficking ring. Once there, the women are shipped off to Africa to be part of the Oasis bordello. Can the ladies escape or are they doomed to stuck in a world of sadism, spies, and stilled dubbing!

OASIS OF THE LOST GIRLS (aka POLICE DESTINATION OASIS) (1982) Comes to us from the infamous Eurocine company, that also released various Jess Franco movies and Jean Rollin's ZOMBIE LAKE. Known for their Artistic sleaze films, the company handled all types of drive-in fair with a European sensibility. OASIS is a mix of an island adventure movie and a prostitute ring drama.

While charming in its own way, the movie is sadly too by the numbers. Director Jose Jara (Paul Naschy's EL TRANSEXUAL) doesn't bring anything visually impressive to the screen.  Everything is presented flat and drab. It all feels depressing and cheap. Shots drag on for way too long and the action set pieces are so so. The drugging of the two girls' scene looks like it was pulled straight out of a soap opera.

OASIS does start to spark up, but only when it uses some stock footage and redubbed clips of Jess Franco's TWO FEMALE SPIES WITH FLOWERED PANTIES (1980). There is one nightclub scene left in it's entirety.

Despite it's limp nature, OASIS does offer up some entertaining bits. This English version is filled with bizarre one-liners, and loud outbursts of insults. One completely out of left field scene even has the group of girls start a pillow fight and get nude while bouncing on the bed. The last 30 minutes include some wonderfully goofy action beats and an onslaught of mismashed sound effects.

Audio/Video (1.5/5)

This disc comes with the English dubbed audio and no subtitles. The track is 2.0 Stereo and has a host of problems. The first issue is my copy has a loud ringing noise that randomly pops up at the 16-minute mark and continues to drop in and out during the rest of the run time. The dialogue jumps around in volume level, with some sections having a loud room tone. There is some crackles and pops.

The video transfer is muffled and too dark. Upconverted to 1080p HD on my TV there seems to be some dullness to the whole picture. For a movie this rare and obscure, the picture is mostly impressive for its level of detail. Unfortunately, the picture itself jumps around and freezes. There is some heavy print damage

Extras (1/5)

We get a trailer gallery featuring CAGED WOMEN, ROLLS ROYCE BABY, MAD FOXES, YOUNG SEDUCERS, TROPHY HEADS, and BADASS MOTHAFUCKAS.

Overall (2.5/5)

Completely forgettable but likable enough for a rewatch. Sadly, Full Moon's DVD release is filled with technical hiccups. My disc could be a defect, but still keep your out if you do choose to purchase it.
