The Series (5/5)

I watch a lot of weird and violent content for EuroCultAV.com, you would therefore, think that was sort of my thing, but I like everything in moderation, and enjoy lots of different media in different genres, so when Is The Order a Rabbit? showed up on my doorstep I was pleasantly surprised, and almost immediately fell in love with the series.  Is This Order a Rabbit? involves a young woman named Cocoa who is in a new city, and trying to find work and a place to live.  This is a struggle for anyone trying to adapt to a new environment, and while trying to get directions to her next prospect she ends up finding both at a nice cafe, populated with a group of friendly eccentrics. The cafe is called the Rabbit House, and the people that occupy it will become almost like a second family to Cocoa, things aren't always normal, but they begin to feel strangely like home.

The series is a fun little slice of life anime populated with a cast of characters that really help the series to stand above it's contemporaries.  It also balances light drama with comedy in an effective manner that will have you laughing, and occasionally have the characters tugging at your heart.  The animation isn't entirely standout, but is very effective in it's simplicity. The characters are well drawn, and have enough visual personality to stand out from one another.  By the end of episode of 12 you may just feel  that you're leaving this little world a bit too soon.

Audio/Video (4/5)

The Blu-ray from Sentai Filmworks is across the board spectacular. It is presented with a stunning 1:78:1 1080p AVC encoded transfer that effectively reproduces the look of the series, with excellent colors and detail. The audio is presented with a DTS-HD MA 2.0 track in Japanese that sounds quite good with dialogue and the series evocative score coming through nicely.

Extras (1/5)

A clean opening and closing are all that's included.

Overall

a fun slice of life anime, Is This Order a Rabbit gets a splendid looking and sounding Blu-ray from Sentai Filmworks. The extras are predictably slim, but that's to be expected. RECOMMENDED.
