The Film (4/5)

Nude for Satan falls into the same category as the Sinful Dwarf, if you like the title, you'll like the movie.  That is if you're not expecting too much of it, and with a title like Nude for Satan you really  shouldn't be. Nude for Satan falls into the category of dreamlike EuroCult cinema.  The film has the dreamlike atmosphere of a 70's Jean Rollin film with the colorful lighting of Dario Argento's more supernatural films like Suspiria and Inferno.

The film's narrative (and I use this word loosely) is pretty straight forward. Dr. William Benson (Stelio Candelli) discovers a car crash victim Susan Smith (Rita Calderoni) on the side of a road late one evening.  He escorts her to a nearby castle to get some medical assistance, and the two end up staying the night.  While there they end up in a series of supernatural occurrences surrounding the owner of the castle, who happens to be a personification of Satan, and their own evil doppelgangers.

Video (3/5)

Redemption Films has presented Nude for Satan in it's original 2:35:1 aspect ratio.  The print has some grain and scratching throughout that do not affect the viewing experience that much.  The colors are solid, and the black levels are good.

Audio (3/5)

Nude for Satan has been presented in English and Italian mono tracks with optional English subtitles.  The subtitles are quite clear, but are more suited to the Italian track, than the English track as the dialogue does not match what is up on screen.  The tracks have minimal grain and hissing throughout, and the track in general sounds good considering it's age.

Extras (1/5)

The extras are minimal on this disc.  They include a still gallery, the films original Italian trailer, and a contact page for Redemption films.

Overall

I loved Nude for Satan.  This film is insane in the best possible way.  It's a completely campy mix of Jean Rollin, Jess Franco, and Dario Argento.  The DVD is far from perfect, and some extras would have been nice, however, I would recommend this film to anyone looking to have a good time with a crazy movie.
