Kanememo follows a young, 13 year old girl Kana. Kana has seen serious tragedy in her life, first both her parents die, and then her Grandmother follows leaving her alone in the world. She likes where she lives, and decides to try and make her way in the world at a young age. Fortunately, her Kana she was able to find a job delivering newspapers that not only pays, but provides her with a home.   She quickly integrates into her new life, but in order to do so, must learn how to ride a bike, interact with the people at the newspaper, and deal with a rivalry.

Kanamemo is a really fun slice of life, meets coming of age anime. The series begins quite sad, and one might immediately feel for the Kana character as she loses everything, but is also determined  to make her way in the world. The series is a bit cliché in its approach to slice of life, but the characters and situations make it fun. Also, the Kana character is written surprisingly well.    Animation isn't outstanding here, but ends up being quite solid, and fitting the material. The score gives a nice peaceful ambiance to the proceedings. Overall Kanamemo felt like a solid palette cleaner between other series.

Kanamemo is presented 1:78:1 in a 1080p AVC encoded transfers. Colors are nicely reproduced, and detail is solid. Audio is handled by a Japanese DTS-HD MA audio track with subtitles. The track sounds solid, and without any noticeable issues. Extras include a clean opening and closing. RECOMMENDED.
