Kase-San and Morning Glories is an OVA based on the manga series by Hiromi Takashima. The series though feature a title character Kase-San, actually follows the shy and meet Yamada, who is a member of her schools greenery committee. Yamada's primary job is to take care of a bed of morning-glories. She does so in the early morning before school starts. However, some days she finds that they are already taken care of by track star and popular girl Kase-San. Kase-San and Yamada become fast friends, and then end up becoming a couple. However, Yamada is struggling, because she has yet to see a lesbian relationship, and wonders if this is truly alright.
I absolutely loved Kase-San and Morning Glories. The story is simple, but effective. Though most of us take for granted that there is nothing wrong with gay and lesbian relationships in 2019, one can see how a young girl just coming into her own could be worried as she first develops feelings for another person. As such the film (which runs a short 60 minutes) comes across as a wonderful coming of age tale. The animation presented here is simple, stunning, gorgeous, and conveys a cute and charming atmosphere to the overall presentation.
Sentai Filmworks presents Kase-san and Morning Glories in a spectacular 1:78:1 1080p AVC encoded transfer preserving the OAR of the piece. Audio is handled by DTS-HD 5.1 tracks in English and Japanese. Both sound crisp and clear, and without issue. No extras, still I have to highly recommend this one.
