The Film (4/5)

Director Brad Peyton is no stranger to Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, having worked together on San Andreas, Peyton again has Johnson, not fighting wind, rain, earthquakes, fires or any natural disasters, but this time he is fighting against angry, vicious and killing mutated monsters hell-bent on causing destruction to anything and everything in sight. Leaving Johnson (an ex-military ops soldier turned park ranger) with sidekick, George the Gorilla, who Johnson saved from poachers, and now has a very strong attachment too as a result.

In typical B-movie fashion, there is a corporation who unleash canisters of special serum, that fall to different parts of the world. A wolf eats the serum, a crocodile eats the serum and George eats the serum? Guess what happens next? These three animals start to grow and wreak havoc. The corporation and its people try to get a hold of these animals, despite causing destruction, and it’s up to Johnson to save the world, and most importantly George.

“Rampage” is nothing but a fun and wild popcorn flick, unfortunately it is mindless entertainment that relies on heavy explosions and CGI effects, and does not really have the best script.  The pacing was great for its two hour run time, as the film never felt dull or boring. The carnage and destruction flows like wine in this film. Even the CGI looks fantastic to say the least.  A film like “Rampage” is everything you’d ever hope for in two hours. It is a date movie to say the least, and a film you will probably never really revisit again.

Audio/Video (5/5)

Rampage crashes in with an excellent 1080p HD transfer that looks fresh as can be. Whereas the audio is even better, in a stunning loud Dolby track.

Extras (5/5)

Extras- A digital copy of the film, five featurettes clocking in at about 50 minutes, a very hilarious gag-reel and some amazing deleted scenes that I wish would of make the cut in the final product.

Overall

Rampage was not terrible, but I would not want to watch it again. Rent it.
